Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 13, 2026
Last updated: June 13, 2026
Reading a privacy policy is an elite move, and we respect that. This page explains what information Webfu may collect through webfu.com, how we use it, how long we keep it around, and what rights you have over it. We are committed to protecting your personal information, even if this page occasionally cracks a smile while doing it.
In other words, yes, we care about your privacy. No, we are not trying to turn your contact form submission into an international spy thriller. We just want to run a functional website, respond to inquiries, and keep things secure.
Who We Are
This Privacy Policy is published by Webfu, a Portland, Oregon-based marketing agency that has been providing search engine optimization, AI optimization (AIO), and Google Ads services since 1999. References to "Webfu," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy mean Webfu, operating webfu.com.
For the purposes of applicable data protection law (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended), Webfu is the controller of personal data collected through webfu.com. The data protection contact for Webfu is the owner, Dan Paige, reachable at seo@webfu.com.
How We Collect Your Data
Some data is collected because you hand it to us directly. That may happen when you fill out a contact form, send an email, request a quote, book a consultation, or otherwise decide to say hello through the website.
Other data is collected automatically when you visit the site. This may include technical information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. This is standard website functionality, not a dramatic attempt to narrate your every click like a nature documentary.
What Data We Collect
Depending on how you interact with Webfu, we may collect information such as:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Company name
- Any message or details you submit through forms
- IP address
- Browser and device data
- Website usage and interaction information
Why We Use Your Data
We use data for legitimate business purposes, including operating the website, responding to inquiries, improving site performance, understanding how visitors use the site, and protecting the site from spam, abuse, or other digital nonsense.
More specifically, your data may be used to:
- Respond to messages and service inquiries
- Provide requested information or support
- Maintain site security and performance
- Improve user experience and website content
- Analyze website traffic and visitor behavior
- Comply with legal obligations
Legal Basis for Processing
Where applicable, we process personal data based on one or more of the following legal grounds: your consent, the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures, our legitimate interest in operating and improving the website, or compliance with legal obligations.
That is the formal version. The informal version is that we try to have an actual reason before collecting or using personal data.
Specific Third-Party Services We Use
The following third-party services are currently in use on webfu.com. Each is listed with the type of data it may process and the purpose:
- DreamHost (web hosting): processes server requests, IP addresses, server logs, and stored website content. Used to keep the website online and operational.
- Google Analytics 4 (analytics): processes pseudonymous usage data including pages viewed, session duration, device type, approximate geographic region derived from IP, and referral source. Used to understand site performance and audience behavior. We use IP anonymization where supported.
- Google Tag Manager (tag management): loads and manages other measurement tags on the site. Does not itself collect personal data, but routes events to the tools configured through it.
- Jetpack by Automattic (site stats, performance, and security utilities): processes anonymized visitor counts, basic page-view information, and IP addresses for security purposes.
- WPForms (contact form handling): processes data you submit through forms on the site (name, email, phone, message). Form submissions are stored in the website's WordPress database and may be forwarded by email to Webfu.
- Yoast SEO (search engine optimization plugin): processes website content metadata. Does not collect personal data from visitors.
If we add, remove, or change a service in a way that materially affects how personal data is processed, we will update this list.
Hosting and Website Infrastructure
This website is hosted by DreamHost, a third-party hosting provider, who helps keep the site online, stable, and reasonably cooperative. In the course of providing hosting services, DreamHost may process technical data such as IP addresses, server logs, and website requests.
DreamHost's own data handling is described in its privacy policy. They help keep the lights on. We would prefer the website remain on the internet, so this arrangement is considered beneficial.
Content Delivery Networks and Security Services
We may use third-party tools such as content delivery networks, security filters, firewalls, spam prevention services, or similar technologies to improve site speed, reliability, and protection. These services may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details, and request data. This is generally done to help block malicious traffic, reduce errors, and make the site load without behaving like it was built in 2003 and forgotten in a basement.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Like most modern websites, this site uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help the site function properly, remember preferences, measure usage, and improve performance.
Some cookies are necessary for basic website functionality. Others may be used for analytics, marketing, or customization, depending on the tools active on the site. Where required by law, we will request your consent before using non-essential cookies. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may cause parts of the site to become a little dramatic.
Analytics and Third-Party Tools
We use the analytics and measurement tools listed in the "Specific Third-Party Services We Use" section above to understand how visitors interact with the website, which pages are most useful, how people find the site, and where improvements should be made. These tools may collect data such as pages viewed, session duration, click behavior, device information, and approximate geographic information derived from IP addresses.
We do not sell personal data to third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
Google API Services and Google Ads
Webfu uses Google API services, including the Google Ads API, to manage Google Ads accounts on behalf of clients and to power internal reporting tools. Webfu's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, with respect to data received from Google APIs:
- We only access Google Ads account data through accounts where the account owner has explicitly granted Webfu access (typically a client engagement, an OAuth consent flow, or a Manager Account / MCC link).
- We use Google API data only to provide the services the account owner has hired or authorized Webfu to provide. Examples include keyword research, ad performance analysis, campaign optimization, conversion tracking review, and reporting.
- We do not use Google API data to train machine learning models that are not directly related to the requested service.
- We do not transfer Google API data to third parties, except as necessary to provide the requested service, comply with applicable law, or as otherwise expressly authorized by the account owner.
- We do not use Google API data for advertising purposes outside of operating the authorized advertising accounts themselves.
- We do not allow humans to read Google API data except (a) with the account owner's affirmative consent for specific data points, (b) where necessary for security or compliance purposes, or (c) where the data has been aggregated and is used for internal operations.
If you are a client and have questions about how Webfu handles data received through Google APIs on your behalf, contact us at seo@webfu.com.
Contact Forms and Direct Communications
If you contact us through a form, email, or another communication method on this site, we will use the information you provide to respond to your request and continue any related business communication. That means if you ask us about SEO, web design, PPC, or digital marketing, we may use your information to answer you. It does not mean we are printing your message and pinning it to a corkboard with red string connected to thumbtacks.
Social Media Links and Embedded Content
This website may include links to social media platforms or embedded content from third-party services. If you interact with those services, they may collect data according to their own privacy policies. In other words, once you leave our site or interact directly with a third-party platform, their rules may apply. We encourage you to review their privacy policies if that sort of thing happens to be your hobby.
How Long We Store Your Data
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to inquiries, maintaining records, meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements.
If you request deletion, revoke consent, or object to certain processing, we will review that request and delete or restrict data where required, unless we are legally permitted or required to keep it for a longer period.
Sometimes the law says we need to keep records. Sometimes your message about SEO survives longer than a houseplant. It depends.
International Data Transfers
Some third-party providers used in connection with this website may process data outside your state, country, or region, including in the United States or other jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your own. Where international data transfers occur, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place where required by applicable law. No cape, no teleportation, just compliance efforts and vendor paperwork.
SSL and TLS Encryption
This website uses SSL and TLS encryption to help protect the transmission of confidential information. You can usually recognize an encrypted connection when the site address begins with "https://" and your browser displays a lock icon. That lock icon is not decorative. It means data sent through the site is encrypted in transit, which is much better than shouting your message into the void and hoping only the intended person hears it.
Your Rights Regarding Your Personal Data
Depending on your location and the laws that apply to you, you may have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Request restriction of processing
- Object to certain processing activities
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Request portability of your data where applicable
- File a complaint with a supervisory authority or regulator
If you would like to exercise any of these rights, contact us at seo@webfu.com. We may need to verify your identity first, which is standard procedure and not a personal insult.
Right to Withdraw Consent
If we process your personal data based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with future effect. That means we stop moving forward on that basis, but it does not automatically erase processing that already happened while your consent was active. Think of it as closing the gate going forward, not reversing time with a legally themed time machine.
Right to Object to Processing
If we process your personal data based on legitimate interests, you may object where you have reasons arising from your particular situation. You also have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data for direct marketing purposes, if applicable. If you object to direct marketing, we will stop using your personal data for that purpose. That is not us being offended. That is simply how the rule works.
Right to Restriction of Processing
You may request restriction of processing in certain situations, including if you contest the accuracy of your data, if processing is unlawful but you oppose deletion, if we no longer need the data but you need it for legal claims, or if you have objected to processing while verification is pending. Restriction basically means the data stays parked instead of being actively used, which is a very respectable outcome for a piece of information.
Right to Access, Correction, and Deletion
You have the right to request information about the personal data we hold about you, including where it came from, why we process it, and with whom it may be shared. You may also request correction or deletion of that data, subject to applicable legal limitations. If something is inaccurate, we would also prefer it not remain inaccurate. Incorrect data is bad for everyone, including the people trying to maintain a functioning business.
Right to Data Portability
Where applicable, you may request that we provide personal data you have supplied to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. You may also request transfer of that data to another controller where technically feasible. So yes, in the right circumstances, your data can leave here in a neat digital package instead of storming out in a huff.
Right to File a Complaint
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates applicable law, you may file a complaint with the appropriate supervisory authority or regulator. We hope it never comes to that, but the option exists, and it is yours.
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you specific rights regarding personal information that we collect about you. These rights include:
- The right to know what categories of personal information we collect about you, the sources of that information, the purposes for which it is used, and the categories of third parties with whom it is shared.
- The right to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to applicable exceptions.
- The right to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- The right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
Webfu does not sell personal information for monetary value, and we do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA / CPRA. To exercise any of the rights above, contact us at seo@webfu.com. We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.
Children's Privacy
This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate legal basis or required parental consent. If we become aware that such data has been collected improperly, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the website, our services, applicable law, or our data handling practices. Any updated version will be posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised.
That means this document may evolve over time, which is normal. Privacy laws change, websites change, and occasionally someone discovers a tool running on a site that should have been mentioned three revisions ago.
